Meet Milind Kodkany
Milind, a true Dandeli native, has always had a love affair with nature. After three decades of working with India’s top hospitality giants & abroad, he traded in his corporate life to pursue a wild dream, now known as Milind’s Hideout. His passion for the outdoors didn’t stop there. He became a Certified Naturalist by the Karnataka Eco Tourism Board (1st Batch).So when you visit, you’re not just getting a host, you’re getting a nature-loving expert who knows every nook and cranny of Dandeli’s wilderness
How the Hideout took shape...
In 2007, I had to return from my job in Kuwait due to a severe illness. While on bedrest, I came across a Tourism Department conclave promoting the Atithi Devo Bhava concept. It resonated deeply, and with the support of my wife and parents, we opened our home to travellers. My sons were in primary school then, today, both are Hotel Management graduates.
The Beginning
We began Milind’s Homestay on 19th December 2007 with just two rooms and simple, homely food. In those early days, tourism in Dandeli was limited, with only three resorts and two farmhouses. Being the first registered homestay in Dandeli Taluka, every step was a learning curve.
Journey Further
As tourist expectations evolved, so did we. In 2013, I became a certified naturalist through the Karnataka Eco Tourism Board. With growing demand and repeat guests, we shifted to our ancestral property for more space—and from there, the journey truly took off.
